About LDS Law

  • LDS Law is intended to provide news and discussion specifically for the LDS legal community, including lawyers, paralegals, and law students. However, it is open to anyone else interested in the intersection of legal issues and the LDS Church.
  • LDS Law has no official affiliation with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  The statements and views expressed herein are exclusively those of the authors.
  • Due to the lengthy name of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it is also variously referred to on this site as the Mormon Church, the LDS Church, and/or the Church of Jesus Christ.  This flies somewhat in the face of the LDS Newsroom Style Guide, but it is easier to read and comports with more commonly used search terms.
  • Comments are welcome but may be moderated and/or edited.  There currently is no commenting policy other than a general suggestion to be civil.
  • Some content on LDS Law is also cross-posted on, where Peter is also a contributor.
  • LDS Law welcomes topic suggestions as well as guest authors and contributors.  Send all inquiries or suggestions to admin at
